Egg refused copy of credit agreement

Hi,
I sent a letter/template asking for my credit agreement along with £1.
I received a letter back from Egg saying that as the account is closed, they are not obliged to provide me with this. I did however receive the account number from them.
From reading numerous posts/conflicting posts in this forum I'm a bit confused as to what to do next.
I have read that I should now send a SAR to Egg along with £10 as the next step. But I have read posts where people have done this and have been refused the info due to the account being closed.
Can someone guide me in what I should do please?
Many thanks in advance.

There is nothing conflicting on this. It is a factual position. From reading numerous posts/conflicting posts in this forum I'm a bit confused as to what to do next.
A request under the CCA for your agreement costing £1 only applies to debts outstanding. This requirement ceases when the debt is repaid/account closed.I have read that I should now send a SAR to Egg along with £10 as the next step. There have been a small number of cases where the firm has rejected these. I suspect it may be more to do with wording given some of the posts. i.e. sending a cheque in for £10 but mentioning it is a request for the agreement under the CCA. So, the low knowledge temp at the firm thinks it is a CCA request and rejects it. (some people have listed the things they said and they create their own problems by doing so).
A DSAR should not mention CCA or anything really. Just a request for information under the data protection act.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi and welcome
That is a very common issue, when the account's been settled, but if this was purchased over the last 6 years or so they will surely hold other information, so it is up to you if you want the option of requesting a SAR, of or if you know you had PPI, just continue to make a reclaim.
Many have been successful without the paperwork, but that is of course up to you.
All you do is simply complete a reclaim questionnaire(issued by the FOS) not to be confused with the FOS complaints form, but the reclaim questionnaire was issued for customers to make a reclaim on PPI where you pursue the ones who set up and sold you the account.
Remember to keep a copy as well for your records, because if they did not uphold in your favour by the final decision, as well as completing a FOS complaint form, you can then send them a copy of the reclaim questionnaire as well - this will save them some time on you sending in other information.
Step 3 to the reclaim questionnaire below, good luck.
