vodaphone upgrade constantly moving target

I have a 12 month sim only deal as last year could not see anything i fancied. orginally upgrade date was Jan, logged in and said oops sorry now its March

No big deal, so made a note on my phone, logged in and now its moved to April!

whats the deal on this? its not a massive issue to me, although my phone is starting to last less than a day between charges and its now over 3 years old

it is a company phone (i pay and claim back) and on business trips its a PITA when it only lasts 5 hours before it needs charging again

I did mine 6 months early last year. I did have to think hard before i took the plunge.
Rumours that they charged for the remaining months were everywhere, There was no way i would be doing that.
After speaking to customer services they said no fee, But the new contract runs from the expiry date of the old one. So basically i would have this phone for 2 1/2 years.
I could live with that and my new contract was £5 a month less for a phone that was far superior.

Seems they have stopped that now. I do wonder if its because the phones will be out of warranty before the cotract expires?

2 year contract, 2 year warranty.

Mobile phone service and phone warranty had no bearing on any issue. The contract is a service, and the goods are the SIM. A handset supplied is an inducement, and ou are covered by SOGA and/or DSR - the contract duration is of no consequence.
