just had a text from these saying i have last last chance to purchase all photos off a CD lol might offer them £20:T0

I was also ripped off by Double Take. I was pushed and pushed and eventually crumbled into buying photographs. I relunctantly paid £800 for 7 photos and a disc in the hope that i had a 'cooling off period' I DIDNT. They treat you extremely nicely before you sign up and then BANG, they dont want to know. I rang double take studios the very next day to cancel and they hung up on me??? Months and months i tried to speak to a manager etc with absolutely NO LUCK whatsoever. I wrote to trading standards and also consumer direct whom basically said i DONT have a case because i signed up 'on site'. Very very disappointed and still trying to win the case with the administrators.
Double Take Studios were con artists and bullies. They went into administration because they couldnt handle the amount of claims people like me were throwing at them.
Lessons need to be learnt, i know i have.0 -
Hi Nutzeonie,
I am in the same position at the moment only difference is my credit agreement is directly through doubletake and i only ever received the disc non of the prints associated with the package, due to this happening i cancelled my direct debit in 2011 they have had over £1000 off me, i sent several emails back and forth to customer services. (who were never helpful). they didnt contact me back for any monies or anything so i left it. although when i changed address i wrote a letter to inform them as per the contract. Last week i got a call from a company called oriel, they now want the money off me due to doubletake going into administration.
I just wondered if you managed to sort anything out? I am having no luck and would love a little advice if you managed to sort things out!
Thanks in Advance0 -

I've just had this text, replied and had a follow up phone call from the company which achive the photos that were taken. They said they were going through offereing old doubletake clients ALL their photos on disc for £40 before they delete them from the archives.
Does anyone know how legit this is?0 -
So what is the name of this company? Wouldn't be surprised if this an ex-employee of DT who is trying to make a quick buck."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
-
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this a forum for advice and help, not sitting in judgement about how other people spend their money? i think those people who think they have the right to judge should go on a site where being rude and unhelpful is ok.0

Firstly, openly and honestly, I am an ex-employee of DT, both me and my wife lost our jobs when the company we loved went into administration.
I do not represent Doubletake and my words are merely guidance from someone possibly slightly more in the know but no longer affiliated with the company in any way.
Firstly OP, I'm sorry that you won't be visiting the studio again...I too am sad that I too shall not be able to return...I assume by this point you have spoken to your creditor about your finance agreement and possibly recovered some of the money or services you paid for.
More importantly however...can you all not judge the OP for wanting nice photographs....very easy to say you could do better or would be able to buy a good camera but frankly you are wrong unless you too have years of experience in the industry, worked with countless publications, galleries and a legion of happy clients. Next of course, top of the range equipment in a large studio with multiple sets.
I highly doubt one of you could live up to your pathetic reasoning on the internet on a forum meant to be about Money and an unfortunate situation of another member here.
Thirdly, DT were a bloody good company! My personal opinion is the failing of the business model is because we had seen every client that wanted to come to the studio and were hit by the recession very hard. I've been in sales for 10 years and I've never had a job that the client was so eager to get the products...we really were providing a fantastic service for people that wanted the products.
Not that I need to explain to any of you but I feel compelled to point out that the OP's package included three return visits with all images in digital, prints and a range of large prints each and every time...not to mention an industry professional Make-Up artist, professional Photographer and custom retouching should the client want it.
Also, someone mentioned that the text was probably an ex employee trying to make a few quid, you clearly don't know how administration works. The photographs held on the servers would be seen as assets that can be sold off to repay people the company are in debt to...Administration for Doubletake meant that they could no longer trade in a way that could potentially accumulate any more debt. It's a valid deal and I suggest you take it as it is a bargain! As for the extra visits...I assume there is an agreement in place with another studio and this is a good way of marketing their studio off the back of DT's potential leads.
I for one plan to spend a fair whack when I take a trip to Venture (an ex rival company who are admittedly very good) with my wife and our 1 year old early next year. If anyone has a problem with that...keep it to yourself!
OP - I apologise for hijacking your thread somewhat and digging it up but I can't stand to see the company I loved and worked for for a number of years brazenly slandered...it's completely unjust!0 -
They are con artists who play around with people. They tried to over charge me for more pics I never even had. I got told by them on the phone when they went in administration to cancel all direct debits with them whether you owed them money or not. so i did. a few months later I had direct debits coming out my account of 90.00 a time from what was labelled as parking fines. hhmmmm that's funny because I do not drive!! I chased it all up and it came out that the company still had my bank details and set up a fraud to still carry on getting money out of me using a different name. changed my whole account and stopped it. They are still on my case today about money. 3 years down the line. They are getting nothing!!0
