I have Virgin, but the router is in another room, but I have a cable going to the Virgin box which happens to be next to the Sky box. I want to use Sky Anytime on the Sky box now they allow any broadband supplier.
Could I take the lead out of the TV, connect it to the old virgin router and then to the Sky box?

I like the idea of connecting it wirelessly - what would the general name for the Buffalo bit of kit you mentioned, so I can search for cheaper variants?

Read it might be difficult to power it as the USB port in the Sky HD box are dead0 -
