this is why im glad im not doing my degree at a uni! im going at college, and we all get offered jobs all the time, were going to have some good links in the end where we may not have had if we were at a big uni.
Perhaps you could try working as a sales assitant at a computer store like pc world or something along those lines? or at least in a firm speacialising in your field.0 -

That is a very good idea starting in IT retail as even in IT retail you are getting more experience which could help you into a proper IT job in a year or so time.:beer:0 -
Thanks for all the feedback that I have received.
When I did my placement for one year it involved IT retail IT repairs etc, I never really thought about going back to this form of work
What about getting a job within marketing, or HR where is the best place to start here?
Thanks again.0 -

Considering the number of vactions in recruitment it would be a good starting point HR and then maybe look at moving to being a recruiter in a firm's HR department.
Marketing and sales are very much interlinked so maybe a Sales post could provide a springboard into Marketing.:beer:0 -
There are few case studies of Marketer

Get a job through a temping agency. Odds are your job will be in the admin area. Make your only request be that you want to be in a big company whereby down the line you can move up. Obviously you'll look keen so this shouldn't be a problem.
Once you've been in the company for a few months you'll see internal job bulletin's whereby you can apply through. It's much easier getting a job/interview when you are already in the organistation than coming in from outside. Many jobs don't even get advertised properly as they go internally.
Plus experience in admin in a company will be better on the CV than a shop assistant when trying to get a proper career in the computing/business sectors.
It might take a good 6 months of hard work and sucking up but you should be able to worm your way into the career area you want to be in.0 -
Temp work can find you alsorts of jobs from survey takers for market research, support workers in marketing events-- anything that needs short term staff.:beer:0

I'm surprised you've had problems getting a job with a Comp Science and Business degree, that's what my friend did and he's earning obscene amounts of money in the City.
You've probable tried these but have a look at nijobs.com (plus irishjobs.com) and loadzajobs.co.uk, they're the best NI jobs sites I've come across. However, don't limit yourself to NI if you can. With a degree such as yours you should be able to find some potential jobs in say Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, London, or pretty much anywhere. Register for Monster and the Guardian jobs site, plus if you've got an idea of what sort of industry or field you want to go into, try and look up specialist recruitment sites or industry publications for it. Are you still in touch with your old department? See if your course leader or whoever has any suggestions or contacts (that's how I got my current job).
You could also go into business yourself. If you've got any business ideas or if you can provide good services with your skills, it's something to think about. I forget what the NI enterprise people are called, but you could speak to them about it. Even if you don't go down that route, they might have some useful advice. Your university might also have an enterprise department.
Good luck!0 -
it training schemes are amazing for people like you

not sure if its got an office in NI but im sure ther e are similar in your area. the key things are work experience and the job gurantee.:A Boots Tart :A0 -
Just IT -- I highly do NOT recommend them -- the job guarantee is on a conditional bases of passing certain exams which majority do not pass sitting the course. They do not have as many contacts as they say. They are nothing but good sales people trying to make money off peoples unfortunate circumstances. A degree is more than enough for a decent job -- it just takes a year in a not so good job to gain some experience then hey presto change jobs the decent money comes rolling in. Trust me after a degree further educational courses are not the answer unless they are fully paid for by a company you are working for.0
