Hi guys,
Thanks for your help.
I am looking for a 15' to 17' laptop
Prefer with fast processor - i5 - what is AMD equivalent?
Think I need at least 4 RAM - but more is better.

I don't play games, but I do watch iPlayer a lot on-line.

I know John Lewis, M&S and Sony give 2 year guarantees - but they don't seem to have any special offers on at the moment.

Any special offers, vouchers codes out there?

Budget is £400 - with £450 being at a push.
Thanks again!

the ones suggested above are pretty good however (by m5rcc)

to me it sounds like your going for overkill, for basic usage and iplayer you do not need a core i5 cpu and if watching movies/tv is your main usage you can save quite a bit by changing you wants to something that will cover your needs

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOSHIBA-SATELLITE-C670-LED-LAPTOP-500GB-17-3-INCH-4GB-RAM-REFURB-/330704543345?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item4cff86de71 for example would be quite good for iplayer etc as it has a large screen at 17 inch, decend size hard drive if you download the programs to watch instead of streaming, comes with the B940 cpu which is sandybridge based so plenty fast enough, and because its a refurb is less that £310 including delivery and a 12 month warrenty
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

    Really appreciate your kind replies.
I do like the idea of an Asus - especially as many posters suggest it is the most reliable machine on the market.
I noticed that the same laptop model seems to come in different variations:
i5-2430 and 4 RAM (on eBuyer)
i3-2350 and 6 RAM (at Comet)

The Toshiba 17' idea is great - would still prefer adding £70 for a new laptop and if M&S or JL also store it - then I hope to get a 2 year warranty.

    This begs the 2 questions
any other stores offer a free 2 year warranty?
for streaming purposes: do I need more RAM or faster processor?

    Again, many thanks!

A good internet connection/ISP and decent connection to your router are probably more important. (assuming you're getting a modern laptop.)

    Thanks,
Am with Virgin and seems fast enough to me at 2.5 Mb/s download speed

Any thoughts about this refurbished Toshiba for £359 (less 5.5% cash back at Quidco) - at Currys and PC World?
