Parking fine from Vehicle Control

Options
hi, i parked my car in my college on ristricted parking space last week as i was getting late for my class when i came back there was a ticket from vehicle control which was hand written (same as the one from council ) and it said onit that i have to pay £80 within 7 days..:(.. unfortunatelly i was kind of scared and had no choice but to pay 80 and it said it will increase to £125 if i dont pay...
the question is do i really had to pay that much for just an hour?

so i know what todo if it happens again. obviously im not parking it again, but better to know what todo as i just passed.
thanks

Are you saying you did pay it? If you did, it's an expensive mistake, had you come here first, you could have kept the money in your pocket, as there was no way they could have made you pay it.

If it happens again (and if you paid, they will have thought they have a live one on the hook so will try and do you again!) then for goodness sake give them......FA!

No, mate, it is all a scam. They tell you lies to make you pay them. They rush you into paying by telling you it will be more if you don't pay quickly, but the simple fact is, if you ignore them, they do simply give up as their tickets are not legal. Only the Council or the Police can make you pay a fine.

Sorry to hear you learned the hard way, but at least you know now. Don't ever pay another one.

And tell all your friends about it and give them the link to here to check it out.

Some lessons cannot be taught, only learned. No-one on here will blame you for being scared.

Only the local authorities or police can impose fines or penalties. These companies can no more do so than you or I.

With luck, you won't hear any more. However, there is a chance that, now that they know you are a soft target, they will claim that your payment arrived late and start chasing you for the extra £45. If so, ignore.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

If you have only just paid and sent them a cheque, then go into your bank first thing tomorrow and stop it if it hasn't gone through.

Oh for God's sake...you PAID???? WHY??????????

It was a scam. You have been had. You cannot stop a debit card payment.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You can ask the bank, but I think the answer is no.

Well, the main victims of these scammers are the young and the old. One of life's lessons, unfortunately. Some of life's lessons cost a lot more than £80............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Poster can try and get his own back by spreading the word to all friends, relatives... do not pay the crooks. At least that will make it a Pyrrhic victory for the parasites.
