Letters written for Agreement and T&C....now what?

Hi,

Im a newbie to the PPI reclaim. I dont know if i have had PPI added to any of my loans, cards etc, which is probably the point of the reclaim.I didnt even know what PPI was until today.

So i have written letters to each of the companies i have had finance, cards, mortgages, loans with.

Will they now reply and send me the T&Cs and Agreement Policy or will i be lucky enough for them to just send me a cheque?

Once i get this information....what do i do with it? How will i tell if i was mis sold PPI? I have read the guides but dont really understand it too well.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If these loans and CC are closed the agreements will not be sent, with CC the agreement may not show ppi anyway as this could have been added at a later date, you need to do a SAR to each bank

Enclose £10 for each bank and give them 40 days to respond.

If any are still open, do you have CC card numbers or loan account numbers?, go into your local branches and ask if you have ppi on these.

Look here for reasons for mis sell

If you did have ppi and any of the reasons above apply to you then put a claim in, some do this over the phone.

Depends on what you wrote in your letters. Also depends on whether you wrote to the right place (i.e. the lender often has no liability. That lies with the seller. Some contracts, like mortgages, dont even mention PPI as it is a standalone product)
How will i tell if i was mis sold PPI?

You wont. There is no requirement to obtain your agreements and the agreements wont tell you that you have been mis-sold. The people getting agreements are usually those fishing for complaint reasons when perhaps they dont have a good reason to complain and hoping something pops up.

Most people should be able to tell if they were mis-sold. The links given by amersall will help. Although some reasons are very hard to prove and have very low success rates whilst one of the most common reasons for upheld complaints doesnt appear on the list (single premium front loading).
