Is a joint credit card the same as a joint account?

Hello,

I applied last week for a new credit card and put that I'd like my partner receiving a card as well. This credit card is link to my bank account.

My credit score is pretty good but my partners is bad so I read that having joint accounts could be bad when applying for mortgages for example.

If I sign this credit card, will this count as a joint account and could affect my credit score? I'm not quite clear...

    No.

It's your credit card account. You are liable for the debt accrued on either card.

It will only affect your credit file, not your partner's.

No you'll be fine. Credit cards can't be joint, they are always only the legal responsibility of the account holder you.

Of course in turn that means if she maxes out the card it will be down to you to pay it!

It won't create a financial association on your file either.

No your partner is only a second card holder, you are liable for the whole debt. I have a joint credit card with my husband they are in my name, when I rang up they only needed his name, that he lived with me and what design card he wanted!!
