Hi, my girlfriend has a CD handbag that she plans to sell on ebay. She picked it up in a charity shop for £5. Apparently it came in with a load of designer stuff and the staff belived it to be real and had priced it accordingly (£5 was considered a top price!)
I e-mailed CD asking for info on how to authenticate a bag (made up a good story) but they want me to post it to Paris with a cheque for £64!!
Does anyone have any clues/tips. I can e-mail photos if someone knows a bit about them. I don't want to risk getting into trouble for selling a possibly fake bag.
The bag is on the CD website for £290 and is called 'Black Dior Logo Messenger Bag'
Looks like this -
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm certainly no expert especially as I am more into Primark than Dior, however I've seen handbags that my friends have bought back from Thaisland and they've come complete with logo's, labels, cotton protection bags etc.0

If you've never been in trouble with a listing before then the worst that will happen is that they'll take down your listing. In truth about 90% of the bags on ebay claiming to be the real deal are fake. If you have taken all steps you can to ensure authenticity then Ebay will not make a huge issue of it. Just be careful not to say that you're unsure of authenticity, then they will take it down.
Assess the bag honestly. Most peoples instincts tell them when something is shonky. If you were buying a bag would you be happy to receive the bag you are selling? That question should be the clincher.
Good luck0 -
Take it into a very posh bag/designer shop, the staff should know if it is authentic."There is a light that never goes out"0

Look at zips/handles etc. Do they look excellent quality? Is there a serial number inside the bag on any of the tags? Do the tags look real?
If not, and if you have any doubts, its a fake, albeit a good one.
Should still achieve good price on ebay. Although maybe note on listing as excelllent copy to prevent neg feedback.

Also a handy way to have the listing pulled.
I'm to going to preach, just inform: listing an item on ebay you know / suspect to be fake is playing with fire.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Examine the bag closely. It should have a leather strap, not plastic. Look at the lining. Is it well made? Fake bags just have some cheap material inside. Does it have a good quality zip?(".)0

Hi, Thanks for the replies. We're thinking of taking it to a designer shop with a story along the lines of 'bought this from ebay, want to make sure etc'
It does have a serial number on the inside, but as rose_sparky says, the fakes can be very, very good.
Thanks
