Laptop only working in safe mode?!

Hi,
Yes I did burn it to disc well I think I did as soon as it downloaded the software to burn it opened and I followed the info so I assume it was done - any way I can check?
I took a look at your link (thanks for that) I have tried the hard disc recovery but when I chose the repair your computer option, it just takes me to the starting in safe mode screen and the options there, with no reinstall windows choice.

Seeing as it's a .zip file, it won't have a burning program associated. So unless you opened the .zip file, you just burned the .zip file to disc.
Will take a look...0 -
Ok your disc should have the folders; BOOT, SOURCES, EFI and a BOOTMGR file.0

That sounds about right? Although still at work and cant double check at the mo, did I do something wrong then?
If not how do I get the disc to work??
Have printed the instructions from the microsoft site just incase.
Thank for all the help so far!

You have to boot from the disc, as opposed to the hard drive. Proceed using the instruction under DVD Recovery via the link in my earlier post.0 -

Ive loads of work to do this weekend and am very tempted just to go a nd buy a new one ..... then I have the struggle of what to buy!?!

If it comes to that you can simply reinstall Vista, but that will likely wipe out your Recovery Partition and all of your data, including the Drivers folder. So make a copy of it.
If you don't want to visit your mum, you can download the Vista with Service Pack 2 image and install that from boot, formatting the hard disc along the way.
But did you actually run the Startup Repair sequence using the disc?
I'm sending you a PM.0 -
this could be a symptom of a failing hard drive. You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.0

Not so much dont want to but shes 300 miles away lol
Anyways I have replied to your PM which was much appreciated.
As explained the knowhow guys at PC World said there were hard drive issues so I now have a new one £50 discount for a scratch on the lid though so not all bad.
The info in your PM went above and beyond any help I was expecting here - thanks again ( to everyone else too).

Can't believe you bought another from them...want to shake you.
£180 indeed, to change the hard drive in the worst case or a simple repair job via the recovery environment.
Perhaps I shouldn't ask the price of the new laptop....it may only serve to annoy me. Couldn't find the model number that you mentioned.0
