Balance Transfers

Hi all I'm new to being a Credit Card Tart, and would like to know when the best time to apply for a balance transfer is. Is it AFTER I've received my next credit card statement, and do I have to inform them how much the transfer is for? I'd be grateful for any advice.:confused:

    Well they cant guess how much your BT is for so yes, you would need to tell them!

    And if you have been given a promo rate for a BT, best time to do it is as soon as possible to make fullest use of the rate. Make sure you clear any interest bearing balance off your card first though.
