You should phone up now, and report a change in condition, and request a form.
This will mean that you may be considered for the support group.
This is unlikely to happen before benefit stops being paid though, but it's a process you need to start.
  • Me & my partner are in the exact same boat as you. We have requested and ESA50 (Limited Capability for Work Questionnaire)
which you will need to complete in order to notify of the worsening condition. We have been advised to gather as much supporting evidence as possible so have requested a letter from his Consultant Psychologist, GP and Social Worker which will all be included with the form.

This is a link to the form which I have printed off to get to grips with it before the original arrives through the post...

If you've had a similar experice to us, you won't have had much help from the 'helplines'!

Is your partner in a position to claim Working Tax Credit? I've just received this form today.

Even if it stops - if he carries on claiming (NI credits only) - he - if he goes into the support group - would start being paid again.

Yes, if you report that your condition is worsening, then they will send out the ESA50 form to you. Might be agood idea to do teh same as me and try and get the link one printed so you know what questions you will need to answer.

    Best of luck.
