I read a lot usually books from charity shops. I have my eye on a Sony PRS - 600 on ebay, as the title says do libraries charge for borrowing ebooks?

I have noticed that some libraries allow anyone to borrow their ebooks regardless of where they live, whether any of those are also free I don't know.0

I have never paid for an ebook, I am a member of 4 libraries that do them, 2 of which do not require you to be locally resident (meaning you can join wherever you live)

And, if you do a bit of a search on the site, you will find a few other websites you can get free ebooks from. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
My local library has ebooks but says that the service will not work with Kindle which is a restriction imposed by Amazon.
Any way round this for Kindle owners?0 -
Ours charges £1 - but like before - can't get the system working for Kindle owners.
However in a small fit of new gadget overenthusiasm - I now have so much unread stuff on there I'll be busy for a long time before even needing to consider library loan books!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Just out of interest - by being a member of Bexley library you can also access two others (Lewisham and another which I can't remember at the moment) to download ebooks.
All completely free!0
