newbie in need of advice.

Hello folks,
I was wondering if anyone had advice with regards a current complaint which I have had upheld by HSBC. I took a credit card with HSBC in 2000. I was missold ppi on this card. I cancelled the ppi on 31st July 2002 when I rang to query what this product actual was that had been added to the card. I have filed a complaint and HSBC have contacted me to say that they will uphold my complaint. The problem is that HSBC are unable to calculate any offer of redress as they no longer hold information regarding my account. They have asked me to provide evidence in the form of statements showing ppi on the account for the period the policy was in force. I unfortunately do not have this information. Has anyone any advice regarding my next action or am I flogging a dead horse?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Justsinead

The problem with a lack of evidence is that there is nothing to show how much, if anything you paid (in months you clear the balance, no PPI is paid). A lot of the firms only keep 6 years worth. Some go up to 10 years. Some go but longer but you are totally reliant on the evidence being available from you or from them. If both dont have it then you are usually stuffed.
