Qatar Airways

I am considering a trip to Bali on Qatatr Airways.
This involves a change of planes at Doha and Kuala Lumpur each way.
Can anyone offer any experience of Doha Airport (things to do on 3 hour transit) and Qatar Airways please?
For example, being a Middle East carrier, is alcohol served on board?
Thanks

the airline is ok
the airport sucks, but you are there for only 3 hours if its the cheapest go for it0 -
I flew with Qatar last summer from Manchester to Colombo, via Doha. The food is ok for airline food, although the sight of curry for breakfast on the return Doha - Manchester didnt go down too well with the Mrs! Alcohol is served from what I remember, but I slept most of the way.
I agree with Khizman though, Doha Airport is dreadful. Not a lot to do there, food is pretty ropey, and expensive, but hopefully when the new airport opens next year, they will spend on facilities. Toilets were particularily bad, and there isn't a lot of them, especially ladies.
If you're only there for 3 hours, you might just be able to cope with it.
Anyway, all said, I would travel with them again.0 -
Have a look at airlinequality. Reviews of both the airline and the airport."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Qatar Airways is one of the best airlines in the world. Brand new fleet of planes with your own TV/Multimedia units. Food is fine and it depends on your tastes but it is far from being ordinary plane food, alot better than some of the rubbish served on KLM, BA etc. Yes there is alcohol and plenty of it, free too.
As for Doha airport, yes it is pretty boring and there isn't much choice for food but it is edible. Duty free is small but has most of what you need. In general it is a clean and smart airport.0 -
I didn't think much of Doha airport. As a single female I got a lot of unwanted attention and a few marriage proposals from some Arabs !!
I got a 'free' meal as I asked at customer services if there was anywhere to go and get some FRESH air, but without getting a visa and a lot of hassle, there was nowhere. The guy felt sorry for me, so gave me the voucher. I did look awful though as I hadn't had any sleep and felt even worse with the heat.
The voucher entitled me to a meal including water, but it was terrible (water was nice though of course) You can pay in many currencies but you will be done with the shopping in all of 5 minutes.****************************0 -
