Horse Box Parking

For the past month there has been a horse box (think large lorry type one) parked at the end of our small residential street. It's a few meters away from the corner but it's size makes it impossible to see if there are any cars coming up the road when turning in and has led to a few near misses since it's been parked there. No one knows who it belongs to and it hasn't been moved since it was parked.
Neighbours have left a note on the windscreen asking the driver to move the vehicle but no luck, and next door tried the police 101 number and the officer say as our road has no parking restrictions and it isn't on the corner nothing can be done.
Any ideas?

You need to speak to some friends of ours, who we call Perky and Hasbeen. The answer to all your parking problems. It takes just £2.50 to the DVLA, and they'll find the owner, who they can then fine every increasing amounts if they don't remove it.
I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist. Forgive me. Read the other threads about parking tickets on this forum to see what I'm wittering on about.
Some more constructive help should be along soon. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Depends on its size. If it is over 1525Kg unladen it should be lit at night, if its 7.5 ton or over it may have an O licence if it has it should be parked at its base!
An O licence will be on the screen near the tax disc it has a number on it, if it has phone VOSA and tell them its been left on a residential street.
There is nothing stopping a HGV parking occasionally on street but it should not be left there.
As for the Police any vehicle they believe is causing an obstruction is committing an offence. I would think a large vehicle left somewhere were it is difficult to see around is causing an obstruction.
However if its just a case of the residents dont like it parked there and its not causing an obstruction and not committing any other offence then there is not a lot you can do!0 -
Thanks. Will check for an O license in the morning. It looks about 7.5 tons -it's very big!
The police didn't come out to see it just told the person who called that if it's not within x distance of a corner it's not illegal. If I have no luck with the license I'll call the police number and emphasis the obstruction. The only problem I have with it is that you can't see cars when turning.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

It was probably a civilian counter minder at the police station, who wont have a clue!
If visibility is a problem its an obstruction, and remind them about the lights at night!0 -
It is over 7.5 tonnes but no O license. Was going to call the police this morning when I noticed it had gone. Hopefully for good but if it comes back I'll be straight on the phone.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0
