Mini Cooper... New Radiator??

Afternoon

Just back from my local independant garage, who had been taking a look at a water leak on my Mini Cooper 2006 (Second Edition with AC).

The mechanic has advised I need to get the radiator replaced as this is leaking out coolant.... he quoted £295 for the part and labour - any ideas if this is a good price? Guessing its not as expensive as a main dealer would be but still seems pricey to me!

Any one else had to have this done?

Thanks
:)

the part probably going to be somewhere between 100-200 quid that - put your registration into eurocarparts and see, you could ask the garage what they are charging for the part and then possibly buy your own and get them to fit it, although not all garages are happy to do...

About £170 or so for a decent Nissens radiator, not even an oe one, new clips, anti freeze, two or three hours labour, sounds about right.
I wouldn't get your own, any problems and you won't find out until you're driving it away, and it'll all have to be paid for again.

You pay the garage extra to supply one or store the car whilst you get the right part?

Unless its mates rates or a pal doing the work dont supply your own parts, Its not worth it.

all i said it was a possible way to make it cheaper, obviously if the wrong radiator is ordered then it would be a problem - my advice wasn't to order a different radiator to make it cheaper!
