Advise needed, have just cancelled PPI that was taken out 12 years ago

Hi There
I called HSBC last week to find out, what my PPI covered me for, on my credit card. They advised the standard PPI details unemployment illness etc. When I took out the credit card out 12 years ago I was told it was for lost shopping, theft, fraud, that I could also add other cards to the policy so they would also be protected? I believed the policy used to be called card protection? Could I be entitled to claim? Or could it be that when I took out the PPI 12 years ago it was for lost shopping etc? I did ask HSBC did my PPI ever covered lost shopping etc and she advised it was just the unemployment illness etc? I don't have the paperwork that I signed but I have only this week cancelled the PPI.
Any help/advance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Are you sure you are talking about the same product? What you describe it covers is card protection. Payment protection covers something different (as you know). So, the product you thought you had does exist. Hence, are you perhaps paying both or did you perhaps have the other one for a period of time?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thank you for responding
This is where I am confused. As I thought I was paying for card protection/card care not payment protection although I advised that the card cover included serious illness. When I queried this with HSBC I was advised that it was just PPI and they didn't offer card care? Therefore I am now wondering did I ever get card care or have I been paying for PPI for all these years? Or did I sign for card care then it changed to PPI and I was not notified? I have requested a copy of the credit agreement to see if this can shed any light.0
