Cat food tins Vs pouches

I have two elderly cats that are thankfully not fussy eaters so any reasonable brand (or non-branded food) that is on special offer will do nicely, thank you very much :T

I give them a combination of dried and 'wet' food.

I was just wondering as pouches seem to dominate the pet food aisles these days whether it is more expensive than tinned food?

Has anyone done the sums?

Thoughts anyone?

  • Pouches are considerably more than tins ..... eg Well known brand
    Tins (12 x 400g) = £6 or £1.25 / kg
    Pouches (12 x 100g) = £3.68 or £3.07 / kg.

Obviously there are offers now & then (I never pay more than £2.50 for 12 x 100g pouches) but still more expensive than tinned (which will also have offers)

Similar cost difference between all the brands & sm own - if they'll eat tins, stick to them (lucky you not having fussy cats!)

    Tins are much cheaper.

I buy tins, use a spare lid and keep them in the fridge. You're paying for convenience with the pouches.
