I just want to move - HSBC are taking ages with the mortagage

I went it on Monday - lady says she'd be able to tell us in 48 hours. I hear nothing. I ring on Thursday, no answer. I ring Friday - again no answer from her - she is busy with another customer (fairy snuffles).

I want to know... Why say 48 hours? It's been a long weekend now.

The survey on the house we are selling is done, their searches have been done, their mortgage offer is with their solicitor.

We seem to be sooooo behind, I feel like crying.

You should have seen an independent, whole of market broker, not just popped down the high street!

If she's that bad, I'd hate to try and get any support from her when you are further down the line.

Please go and find a broker who is able to search through every mortgage product out there and is virtually guarateed to find your the cheapest deal for your cirumstances. (someone a bit more professional would help too!)

You can get a provisional acceptance there and then online with many lenders as I have found whilst sitting with my mortgage advisor drinking his coffee and eating croissants. ;)

  • I had to use them as I am in a fixed term with them until October 2007 - after this time I can shop around a bit (and will be doing so) it's just I din't have much choice as the penalty was going to cost too much to move the mortgage.

I'm just hoping she calls me tomorrow.

We won't be in until after Easter at this rate.

    :(

Try and speak to the manager then. It's not acceptable; a phone call to say they haven't had a reply is better than being ignored :(

A mortgage as a product must produce high profits for the bank. They should treat it like it matters!

Do they not employ enough staff in HSBC? You have to wait forever to do anything when you go in one of their branches.
