We tried really hard to minimise our moving costs to spend some money on the new house and it is possible to save a lot of money.
Online agent -- £400
Online selling conveyancer -- £390
Buying solicitor (some complications) -- £660
Removals van hire (plus strong son and son-in-law) -- £80
Obviously, more work for us, but the savings have been huge.
Unfortunately, I am not posh enough to buy my new house via an offshore trust and avoid stamp duty, too.
