I am actually in hysterics with this thread, thank you so much for making my night :rotfl: I hope you get balloons, streamers, papparazi, ice cream & jelly... whatever your heart desires :rotfl:
Other than that though, congratulations on getting the job :T when will it be confirmed?
Confirmed it Monday, I teased them. That's why I didn't get spray cream.
I still think it will all disappear in a heartbeat, that's no fun. I think it's called paranoia.0 -
When I was an adviser at JCP, I'd phone some of my customers if I knew they had an interview, either before to wish them luck, or afterwards to see how it went. Generally it was the customers who I had a good rapport with anyway, and if I didn't make contact with them then they'd sometimes call me or come in when passing to let me know how it had gone.
It wasn't because I was trying to pick an easy job to do, it's because I genuinely cared whether they got a job or not.£2012 in 2012 - £13810 -
Maybe things are changing at Jobcentres so advisors will show a genuine interest & empathy with the people they deal with.November5th wrote: »I told the Job Centre on my signing on day, Monday, that I had an unconfirmed job offer and would hopefully be signing off on Friday once it was all in writing.
They phoned me first thing this morning and asked me if I had got the job.0 -

In terms of odd phone calls from the job centre, I have some very strange experiences from about 2 years ago.
Around 2-3 months into a period of unemployment when I went in one time and signed on, did the job search, etc, the advisor did all this and then said I had to immediately talk to another advisor, on the same floor but at the other end of the room.
OK off I went, this second advisor said she had to put me onto her "case file" as a matter of urgency. I asked why, or if there was anything wrong/different and she said it's routine and was an extra means of trying to help. Anyway, fair enough, not sure what the point behind it was but I kinda forgot about it.
2 weeks later, went in to sign on as per. Regular advisor did the job search, found me 1-2 jobs, etc all OK.
Just about to walk out the door (literally) when the phone rings, loud voice, "Right, it's [Advisor's name, can't remember] calling to perform your case file job search!" I explained that I had literally just had this done 3 minutes ago, and been found some jobs. "That was your regular job search. This is for the case file!" so went back in to the job centre to do the job search again. The matches that came up were (surprise) the exact same ones I had print-outs for in my hand.
2 weeks later, sign on, job search, etc. Walked out of the job centre took about 10-15 minutes this time for the phone call. Same thing. Only by now I was on a (completely packed) commuter train, with no pen and paper or anything, to be told I had to have the job search "administered immediately over the phone." So had to listen while she reeled off half a dozen jobs and reference numbers in quick succession, even after I had said I was in no position to write anything down and could we do this later. Allegedly I was "unable" to do this myself online because it is linked to the "case file" (I thought the DWP website had essentially the same jobs they searched through? maybe not.) I said if my advisor's job search is not complete or unsatisfactory in some way, could she address it with them? Again, that was a different matter and unrelated to the "case file." All said very abruptly and sharply BTW.
Thankfully I got a job either that day or the day after, and promptly signed off the "case file" once and for all. But the memories will forever remain!!0 -
