removal of mcafee

i hope some one can help we put mcafee on our computer a couple of years ago we did,nt upgrade after the year but we can never clear it off the computer. can anyone help us please as it is really annoying and keeps telling us it is out of date !!!!!:

If you can't get rid of it from control panel add remove programs try downloading a trial installing it and then removing it via the control panel.0
