gas & electricity saving

Options
Sorry - this is not a "have saved" but could have saved.....I couldn't belive the difference. I was checking my daughter's Scottish Power gas & elec bill for the flat she stays in at University. Comparing it against my Scottish Hydro bills........she could have saved £60 if she was with them. So anyone with Scottish Power...change now!

i'm with Scottish hydro for both elec and gas. My gas bill came in for this quarter and it is £70 MORE that last year and I have used LESS. We have a meter key and we were about £5-£6 per wk for elec and now we are about £10!!! Their prices are way high but in saying that they've all gone sky high. I know the key meter thing is more expensive but it was already here when we bought the property and it is quite handy cause there is no bills.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Not sure if this is relevant or not with a key meter (same as prepayment meter right?). Make sure that your meter is charging the right amount when the prices increase/decrease etc. My neighbour said she received a huge demand in the mail from Scottish Hydro Electric and it is due to her meter not being recalibrated when there have been increases etc over the last year or so.

Don't forget that different companies will work out cheaper for different people, dependent on their individual circumstances.

The best thing to do is to use a price comparison service after checking the advice in Martin's article HERE

Bear in mind that Martin's most recent advice was to delay switching providers at the minute, as a lot are reducing prices and it is difficult to get an accurate picture until it stabilises.
