Gift certificate Rules /Refunds

Apologies if this is not the right board...I couldn't find a more appropriate one.

I'm not sure if there's any recourse but as there are so many knowledgeable people on this board I thought I would give it a try.

My DH bought me an expensive spa day gift certificate with treatments this past Tuesday for my birthday. Unfortunately, I'm not at all the type to use such as thing by myself and would prefer to have the money to spend elsewhere. The website says that there are no refunds allowed but I was wondering if there's any way around that? If we can't get a refund I think I'll ask if they would let me turn it into a voucher for two people to use the facilities as I could then go with my sister and make an outing of it.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

You don't need to turn it into a voucher for two. Just pay the additional for your sister.

Thanks Zx81 but I'm trying to minimize the overall expense. My voucher includes treatments that I'd not be interested in, so if we could turn that into another entry it'd be preferable. Unless of course, we could get a refund which would be best.

Have you spoken to the venue? I think a refund is unlikely, but they may change it to two cheaper treatments. But only they can tell you.

You are not entitled to refund/replacements.
However most establishments want to provide good service and get repeat custom, so I would think it's quite likely they would be willing to exchange it for something of equal value.
You are unlikely to get any change, but if the replacement is less you coudl purchase products and if you don't want them save them for birthday/Xmas gifts.
If the value of the replacement is more then obviously you will have to pay the additional.

Basically you have no rights but I can't see why any establishment should have an issue with exchange in msot cases, so be nice and charming and ask them to help you out. Remember they want happy customers.

Personally I have fone right off bouchers since buying a Peacocks one recently.

Thanks everyone. As it turns out they were kind enough to agree to refund the cost if we returned the vouchers by Saturday. So I've sent them express guaranteed Saturday delivery just now. :j Definitely worth the call.

Wow, I'm really suprised. That is unusual.
But you are right - don't ask don't get.
