Can I stop calls via computer to my phone?

This may not be the right board for this so sorry if not. I wondered if it were possible to bar or stop calls made via a computer to my land line?
I have someone stopping with me at the moment & am fed up with tremendously long phone calls to him from his gf, who lives in another country, which means my phone is tied for often more than 2 hrs at a time. Of course as it's free to her via the computer, she is happy to chat till the cows come home.
Asking him not to stay talking for so long has got me nowhere & after his gf rang this evening & I told her I needed access to my phone myself this evening, she blatantly ignored me & rang back a short time later after texting him & him waiting by the kitchen door ready to dash to the phone to answer it as soon as it rang. He did keep this chat to 20mins as I told him I was expecting a call & needed the phone to be free for my own use this evening, but I feelf I shouldn't have to keep asking for access to my own phone.
I'm fed up with my friends keep getting the engaged tone so often when they try to ring me or not being able to phone then when I wish & with someone who seems to think it's their right to hog my phone for their incoming calls, I'm at the end of my tether almost.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Why not get skype or whatever package she is using on your pc then your friend and her can both chat via the pc leaving your phone line clear0

Have you got broadband?
Make him use a computer as well, a microphone and MSN?0 -
Oh no,I don't want him using my computer too. I'd never get him off of it, & I fielded his question when he asked about computer access when he first arrived & in fact I only use the computer when he isn't in & sneakily when he is closeted in his bedroom. He probably isn't even certain that I have a pc I'm that covert about using it.
I've even loaned him my mobile as his didn't work here, so have gone out of my way to be helpful & here I am mobile-less & sometimes landline-less!
Crikey, the things you have to go through to earn a bit extra by taking a student in.
Thankfully his is only a temporary stay of 4 months so guess I will just have to operate on high stress levels untill he leaves in another 2 months. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

If you've loaned him a mobile, most calls to this country from abroad will be the same to landllines or mobiles. Why not get him to ask her to call the mobile number? That way it'll free the landline and also free him from standing around the house all the time waiting on her call.
As for the internet. If you've got broadband, why not let him get a wireless laptop (or whatever) linked up and then he's out of your hair. Unless your into serious online gaming (or hosting a website), you're unlikely to notice the hit of a webcam call.
Cheers

Sorry to hear you got a real jerk living in your home.
There is a call barring service from BT. I used it when I got a new line, which had previously been assigned to a business. It is easy to use, an automated service where you can bar calls from last number etc. It is free for a month.
Alternatively you could just disconnect the phone? Only plug it in when you want to use it"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Or get call waiting and tell him that if a call comes in, you'll want to take it..?0

Methinks it is time to start dropping hints that your friend may be overstaying their welcome and to start looking for somewhere else to stay, could be the end of a beautiful friendship, but hey who needs friends like that.0 -

Calls to a UK mobile from any internet based caller are charged at a premium, they definitely are NOT free (to the caller).0
