Got offered the same deal last week, with no time limit (not a new contract: just a temporary discount on the renewable monthly extension). I declined and will downgrade the account to a standard free one in the following days, as I can get AA cover (WITH home assist for less than their half price), the life cover is pretty useless, and I don't need travel insurance. In hind sight I should have taken the deal, since I could cancel it any time, just in case they'd say that I have one last month to pay the fee (and this could have been the half price rather than full).

They can't do better than that they said.

We've recently done the same and downgraded to just their bank account for the same reasons. They made it pretty inconvenient to do though, we had to make an appointment in branch and during the appointment, 2 people put the "hard sell" on us over it. I used to work for a bank though, told them so & the account was instantly downgraded :rotfl:
