Help, travel insurance issues

I'm going backpacking for a year in May and I thought I was all set with my travel insurance, I booked through the Flight Centre and went with their recommended insurance which is with CoverMore after they told me it covers everything I'll need, I probably didn't ask the right questions but it sounded perfect at the time.
My friend was about to book the same insurance but he spotted the following clause in their policy document:
"This policy does not cover You for any claims arising from Your participation in motorcycling or quadbiking."
There're quite a few places where I'd like to hire a scooter for a day to get around and see the sites, not being covered by my insurance probably puts an end to this plan.
I've already passed the 14 day cooling off period that they offer for cancellation so I'm not really sure what my other choices are? I'm still in the UK for the next 6-7 weeks so I've got some time to sort this out but I don't know what to do about it.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Check the T&C's re cancellation of the policy after the 14 day cooling off period. Some insurers will allow you to cancel and refund pro rata with an additional admin fee.
You really need to read the rest of the policy to ensure that it provides the cover you need as not all policies are the same.0 -
Ask them if you can add this cover as an extra.0
