Thats all good then, just saying that its rare. A lot of people do come on here just expecting to be able to ask nicely and it will be done which is rarely the case.
I do however think in a case like yours, you were probably a bit immature and didnt understand the damage not paying a phonebill would do, not being able to buy a house because you didnt pay your mobile bill is harsh and phone companies dont try to get things sorted, 1,2,3,default.

Defaulting on 25k of credit cards like myself is different. It would not be fair to view us both in the same vein but it would probably happen.
Have heard of a few debt collectors removing debts for cash though, guess they dont really care if they are getting money.
Mine is a bit different in that they are all credit card defaults for substantial amounts.
I don't deny for one moment that I was immature when I didn't pay the bill and I would be the first to admit that, however, at the time, there was no way I could afford it and it's not even as if it was me that ran up the costs. Needless to say, I've learnt the hard way to never obtain credit for anyone but myself. You're also right in saying that I didn't understand the consequences, but that's how people learn, and I have learnt.

I am 100% confident in saying that I would never let myself get into that kind of mess again. Going back, I had approximately 5-7 defaults on my credit file, totalling approximately £4000 of debt. Majority of those debts had been paid and the defaults fell off my file on their 6th birthday, but I've learnt the importance of my credit file and have worked my backside off for the past 2 years trying to build my credit rating back up to be in a position to buy a house with my wife and once this default has gone, we'll be there and I can't wait :)

Sorry to hijack you thread but my son has a debt with Orange that he is desperate to settle do you have an address to write to as all our letters/phone calls seem to get us no where. The debt has been passed on to Moorcroft but they tell me Orange still "own" the debt they just collect payments, they have offered a 25% reduction for settlement but will only show partially settled on his credit file.
