Where are my files?

I had to format a cd r disc and saved all my documents and photos on the disc successfully.
Last week I had to set the laptop to factory settings and wipe hard drive.
My cv was saved on this disc. It runs on windows vista and now when I put the back up disc in it shows no files but the properties show the cd is 487 mb of used space - capacity is 702mb.
What have I done wrong and why are these files not there ?
I dont understand this? Surely it should be showing the files?
They are word files.

they may not show as being on the CD until you've reinstalled Office on the PC and therefore windows should be able to recognise them...can you see any files/folders on the CD?......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Put the disc in and use Windows Explorer to 'explore' or navigate the disc. Does it show any folders or file structure?
How did you put the files onto the disc? Did you use Copy/Paste from the HDD to the CD?0 -
