Hello,
We've just old our house to a cash buyer (yay) we've had a look at a few houses but none float our boat at the moment. How long do you think is acceptable to look for another house?

I don't think there's a set time in which to find another house. But if you're staying with friends/family in the meantime they might want to know how long you intend to stay. I loved looking for a new house when we were moving, but we were restricted by time because we had to sell & buy as a chain but were lucky that we knew exactly what we wanted anyway. You're in a good position because you've got as much time as you need to find exactly what you're looking for, instead of maybe compromising on something due to time restrictions.0

It can depend on the buyer, but most start to get impatient after about 6 weeks with no sign of you finding something. If your house went for a bargain price they might be willing to hang on just to secure the house for themselves.
If you value your sale & don't want to lose it, consider going into rental to give you time to find just what you are looking for. It's what I intend to do when I put my house up for sale if a buyer with a good offer comes along & I need time to find something suitable.
Congratulations on achieving a sale by the way.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Have you actually completed yet or only accepted an offer?
When we sold last year (much quicker than we'd anticipated so we were caught unawares) we had to find a house relatively quickly and being 150+ miles from our chosen location didn't help......we also had very strict criteria as to what we wanted to buy! We withdrew from two potential purchases as we felt we were being rushed into the wrong property, but in the end despite our fears that our buyers would lose patience, we managed to find a house exactly one month after accepting the offer on ours and we completed on sale and purchase within around five weeks of first viewing it, which was approximately nine weeks in total from when we accepted the offer from our buyers.
At the time we were advised to consider going into rented, but for us with three cats, a hot tub and a heck of a load of other stuff, it just wasn't an option......would probably be a good idea otherwise though!
All I would say is if in doubt don't rush into anything......one of the properties we decided not to buy has only just sold almost a year on and for over £80k less than it was on for last year
Good luck
