Cash advances

I need to pay for a rather large garden project (around £4,000) for which I do not wish to get a loan and cannot use my credit card for. Are there any credit card companies that will forward a cash advance rather than a balance transfer?

  • Many credit card companies will give you a "cash advance" from a cash machine or by using a credit card cheque, but in almost every case they will charge you for this, so don't ever do this! There are one or two companies like egg, mint and MBNA who will do what is called on this web site a “Super Balance Transfer", which is basically a balance transfer to your current account. You should be able to get 0% interest on this for 9 or 12 months. Look though these forums or the articles for more info on SBT's.
