mum wants to claim ppi but windows firm lent her the money so finance company pay up

Years ago my mum bought windows from a very convincing salesman, turns out she's been paying ppi all along and never had a clue what it was. She was very niave in purchasing the windows but whats done is done now. Nearly 15 years have gone by and she's still paying. I've tried to follow it up but the finance company ( who went into liquidation in 2008) say because it was the window company company that sold the finance they weren't responsible. Does anybody have any idea of what or where i can go now? Many Thanks

The seller is responsible for the sale of the product. She should complain to the window company. However, given the years involved, it is almost certainly going to be rejected as out of time.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If the finance comapny went into liquidation 4 years ago, how did you speak to them.
If the finance company went into liquidation 4 years ago, where has all the PPI money been going.
And if she needed to claim, how could she if the finance company no longer exists.
Sorry I am confused.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

sorry, i'm confused myself. I'll try and explain to the best of my ability. The firm went into liquidation in 2008. Previous to that she received a letter saying that the firm taking over were no longer able to offer her ppi and she should seek it elsewhere. Somebody suggested i take it up with the windows company, but they are trading under a different name now. As this case is so confusing i may well have to take it up with a specialist in this area. Does anybody have any suggestions?0

There are no specialists in this area.Does anybody have any suggestions?
A complaint should be made to the company that sold it. Not the lender. So, complain to the window company. Given the timescale and what is typical, you would expect a rejection on pre-regulation basis.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You stand very little chance of redress.
15 years predates regulation so you would have to go to court and unless you start proceedings within 15 years they can simply timebar a complaint.
If it is not actually the same company but another one has started up in its place, the new company will have no liability for the actions of the former.
The fact that the new lender said it had to discontinue cover suggests the premium was paid monthly - which would rule the "added to loan" complaint out.
Even if you got it to court in time, the firm is likely to be able to argue that your Mum was over 18 and signed the forms to indicate she had read, understood and agreed to the cover.0
