SCS Carpet - wrong colour

My wife recently decided we needed new hall, stairs and landing carpet. She brought home a sample from SCS in Sheffield. A nice dark grey colour to match our new wallpaper. We wanted some 'matting' in the entrance and so she went to a local carpet shop - armed with sample - to find a piece of matting in a similar colour. This she got, and I laid it down in readiness for new carpet.
Man from SCS came to measure up. Wife returned sample to SCS, and SCS ordered carpet.
But they obviously thought that we didn't really want this dark grey colour, but deemed that a light grey would suit a lot better!
Or at least, that is what the fitters have brought along today.
So of course we have rung up the guy at SCS Sheffield who insists that this is what we have ordered.
It's not! But they want us to go in tomorrow and compare the sample to what came on the carpet fitters van. Of course, they are going to use a different sample than the one that we saw. My wife went in earlier and picked an alternative if they cannot supply the colour that we ordered, but of course that is going to cost extra.

What are our rights.

Urgent help needed PLEASE.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

    this happened to us
the chaps cut the landing and stair carpet on our front drive - I couldn't see it- hubby pops home for lunch and says " I'm sure that carpet is darker than we ordered"

I went to look- and instead of my nice purpley/heather colour.......it's virtually black !!
turns out the whole role had been mislabelled at the manufacturers and had the wrong colour name on it
they did offer me a substantial discount to keep it- but after having black flooring in the bathroom, I knew what a nightmare it is to keep clean as it shows EVERY bit of dust, so I declined

came back within 2 days and fitted the correct colour
