Default Notice - Help please!e

Hi,
My bank account with Natwest has been effectively closed and the OD debt sold on to a collection agency called Allied International. Having spoken to the bank, they have confirmed a default notice has been issued on my credit file.
I intend to speak with Allied and sort out the debt repayment, but wanted to understand the full implications of the default notice. I've looked at several forum posts and had a long chat with the customer service advisor at Natwest (who was very helpful) and wanted to clarify a few things.
1. Is it possible to get Natwest to remove the default notice?
2. Is it possible to get any credit during the next 6 years?
3. What happens after 6 years? (after I've paid the debt in full in installments) Is the notice removed/will I get a clean slate?
Thank you in advance for any helpful advice you can give,
Will

Hi there,
1. unlikely. They have no reason to.
2. Yes, as it gets older. not much for a few years I would think, at least not with decent rates.
3. default is removed after 6 years, paid or not. If you don't arrange to pay, they can get a CCJ at any point during the 6 years since last payment/debt acknowledged and that will put a worse CCJ marker on your file.
Lots of similar posts on the debt free wannabe board.

They wont remove a default because it is a true record of your history, its there for 6 years, paid or not.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
