I took out a £5 month life insurance policy with Payplan when I started my DMP.

For me, £5/month on a £263/mth DMP was nothing and a good personal choice.

I have had no problems with Payplan since I started my DMP and would defo recommend them to anyone.
  • Hi Kaya.
    Will keep in touch.
Can i ask? You have been to court ,was that with credit card companies.
I am not answering the phone, i will just keep sending letters.
Last week i sent letters to them all, with payplan no, and a copy of the first letter i sent them, where i said i cannot make minimum payments.
Only response i had was from Barclays.

yes went to court twice because before starting with payplan we used a fee paying company who charged us £88 per month big con , and then one day I found payplan and phoned them , it was the best move i made, the reason I went to court was because payplan lowered our monthly payment and one company never liked it so they just kept threatening us and eventually took it to court , but I now know there was no need to worry as the judge was on my side all the way , even told the creditor not to bother coming back as it is clear they have been accepting payment from me and so basically told the creditor they had wasted his time, the judge wished me well with dmp and the same thing happened the second time , a different judge but the same outcome.
This is why I say don't worry or lose any sleep over any of your debts because they are not worth your time, it made me quite ill at the time and I am wiser now and don't worry at all .
Whatever the creditors say just send your payment to payplan every month and let them pay your creditors and once they see regualar payments they will settle down , they may make a bit of noise to begin with and refuse to freeze interest charges ,but don't worry about that because when you come to the end of your plan payplan will ask them to take all charges off . :T
ps yes credit cards were the accounts which got taken to court ,but please don't worry not all creditors go down the court road . My plan has been running smoothly for over 3 years now .
  • Just checking Payplan plus, cannot see them receiving payment by direct debit today.
Bit worried, as it is saying next payment 31/5
I am impatient, i want to start making payments, i want the card companies to give me decisions.a lot of wants here.

It takes 3-5 days to reach Payplan plus , don't worry it all works out great and payplan will send off your payments , when you see your debt reducing you get a great feeling inside knowing its under control .
Your not impatient your just anxious as I was ,but once you see the payments on payplan plus you will start to relax ;)
  • Thanks, i am Mrs Anxious, and Mrs Control, e-mailed payplan, just need to confirm first payment has been made.
Or will i have to make them all token payments?

If you have paid your first payment by direct debit to payplan then you don't need to make token payments now as the plan is up and running , but of course if payplan told you to make token payments then check with them . But normally once you start paying that is it and no more token payments need to be sent .

I pay by debit card on payplan plus as I don't like direct debits because being self employed our wages are not the same from week to week so debit card is better as we can put the money in the bank that day and then pay , we then get an instant reciept for the payment and it then takes upto five days to show crediotrs have been paid .
  • Another question, once first payment was made to creditors, did they all start ringing, writing ,only it is silent on creditor front.

you might get an odd one now that has not been pput on their system. I contacted my adviser at payplan who rang them for me and it all stopped.

    Hi All,

Just joined up with Payplan today. A bloke is going to phone me tomorrow night to go through figures with me. They said the call will take around an hour - Better make sure my phone is fully charged! I'm currently with Harrington Brooks but they are charging me a fortune which could go to my creditors. I'm going to carry on making the payments to them that Harrington Brooks where until my Payplan is up and running. Hopefully they'll be happy that they will be getting some more money rather than less. I wish I was better organised with money, I never would have gotten myself into this mess then. Most of mine has been borrowing money to pay off charges and credit cards which I needed when i spilt with the husband.... Everything crossed it goes nice and smoothly!
