Hi somewhere
Its a shame that it will now be over the weekend before you can get a suggestion from Payplan, but do try not to worry so much over the weekend. You have made the right steps so far and are facing things.
You'll get there, and try to enjoy your weekend and be pleased that you are on your way.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Hi Somewhere
How did your day go today? Have you spoken to Payplan yet?
I spoke to my advisor this afternoon and have agreed a payment plan to start on the 1st April (yes, I know:o)
Please keep us updated with your progress - we're all here for you.

Quick update.
Not heard from Payplan today, they said Monday or Tuesday.
You are really organised Lilli.
Thinking i will have to send the 28 day letters out to the credit card companies.
Virgin , Barclaycard, and egg due in a couple of days.
Cancelled the direct debit on Egg.
Spoken to Barclaycard [really helpful]
He said they will re-instate, balance for life transfers i had , which should not have been withdrawn.
Was late with one payment in 15 years and they withdrew this.
According to him , they cannot withdraw this offer
Payment i owe is 410.00
Until they sort out the extra interest i have paid for the last four months i am only going to pay 10.00.
Probably will not be happy with that.
Lilli
Have you informed your debtors, or are you just leaving it to paypal?
Are you getting a better nights sleep?
Do they have to check all your debt ,income etc before you can start0 -

Morning!
I spoke to Barclaycard, but only because the payment was due yesterday and I couldn't meet it. I made a token payment online of £30 before I spoke to them. I have to say, at this stage, they were very helpful.
Payplan will contact all the others though as soon as I send back the 'authority' form.
Yes, they go through income and expenditure and help you set a budget, including things that I would never have thought of (or haven't had the funds to budget for!). The budget we have agreed is very workable and it is a a relief knowing that things like the car tax, insurance etc. are accounted for and won't be put on the credit card when next due:o
I make my first payment to Payplan on 1st April and they dish it out to my creditors.
I have to say, I wish I had done this years ago and then maybe I wouldn't be in this mess right now. But hindsight is never wrong:o
I'm just waiting for the co-op bank paperwork to arrive (hopefully today), then it's all systems go.
Hope today goes well for you today.

Hi Somewhere and Lillibet!
Well done for taking your head out of the sand, and taking positive steps towards getting rid of the debt. It's scary and overwhelming, I know. But also well worth it.
Have either of you completed an SOA, and posted in on this board? Quite a daunting prospect, I know, but you will get LOTS of helpful suggestions on how you can cut back, or save money (like switching utility providers, or having nights in instead of out, how to cut back on grocery shopping etc). I'd highly recommend it.
Also, you could pop over to the Up Your Income and Old Style threads, which will give you ideas on how to increase your income (even if it's only by selling old/un-needed/un-used/un-wanted stuff on Ebay), and make your money stretch further.
I didn't do a DMP myself. But you can see from my signature that I had a lot of debt, and now it's getting closer to being cleared! The first year, in particular, required some spending changes on my part and also selling old stuff, getting more into cooking from scratch, mending things, and also following up with the companies about reclaiming payment protection. Every little helped! Now I cannot believe how much money I used to waste, thoughtlessly.
You can do it too! (that sounds so cheesy, but I mean it sincerely)
