Time limit on PPI Claims

Hi all,
Just want some general advice.
We are in the process of reclaiming PPI on several credit cards, loans and a mortgage.
We went through a claims management company because they were recommended to us (this was before I realised I could have done it all myself).
Anyway, the majority of the things we are claiming for are over 10 years old, some as old as 14 years.
Some of the companies we are claiming against no longer exist or have been bought out by another e.g. We had a mortgage with Cheltenham & Gloucester which was bought out by Santander.
We are now into week 5 of our claims process and wondered how likely we are of being able to reclaim anything.

Did you explain to the claims company why you think you were missold all these different policies or did you just leave it to them to make something up?0
-
That's the thing.
They basically had me reel off a list of credit cards, loans etc and didn't ask me if I felt I had been missold PPI or anything.
It was like dealing with a pushy salesman.
As its so long ago I don't have any paperwork and wasn't able to provide any account numbers or anything.0 -
They (I assume) will contact the providers who are still trading, such as some GE store cards are santander now etc. Did you sign a contract with the claims company? If it is under 14 days you can cancel this.0
-
We did sign a contract which was around 5 weeks ago which I wish I hadn't.
Now they keep calling asking if we can refer other people with the lure of a £20 M&S voucher.0 -

It would be. You are dealing with unqualified and virtually unregulated sales reps on a commission to get you to complain whether you have grounds or not.
There is nothing wrong with having the insurance. The whole crux of the issue is whether you were mis-sold it or not. Are you happy that you may have, inadvertently, made fraudulent complaints by this company? (i.e. do you know what reasons they have given in their complaint letters?)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

No it wasn't. It was bought by LloydTSB which was bought by the great British public.
However, most Cheltenham & Gloucester mortgages were bought through independent mortgage intermediaries.
If it is one of my clients and your muppet ambulance chaser tells porkies on your behalf expect a bill from your (former) adviser for my time!0 -
The reasons they have given is the fact that when I took out the PPI I was full time employed and would have received full sick pay if I was on long term sick leave.0

Define long term sick. Most people seem to think they have long term sick but when they look into it they find it is just SSP or a couple of weeks. A small amount of overlap is acceptable. Its mainly those on 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay that are classed as overlap.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I am with C&G as well but not informed of Santander taken over them, but just those of Lloyds as confirmed by MagpieCottage.
You can try complaining to the claims company if your not happy, if they do not resolve your complaint then contact Claims Regulation (MOJ).

They sent a letter for me to sign to request my account information from C&G.
The letter was addressed to Santander so I assumed C&G was taken over by Santander.
Thinking about it our mortgage was arranged through a mortgage broker so PPI may have been separate from the mortgage.
My sick pay was 6 months full then 3 months at 50% and then 3 months at 25%.0
