Should I claim on an inactive CC account as well?

Hi people.

I've successfully claimed almost £3500 in PPI charges on my MBNA credit card, which I've had for about 14 years. This is a great result, obviously, but I'm wondering if there is more I can claim.

You see, a few years ago there was a fraudulent attempt to access my account. MBNA (thankfully) detected it and froze the account. They then issued me with a new account number (same balance and everything, of course), so now when I log on to online banking I can see the new account number but I also have the option of viewing the old, inactive account. When I filed my PPI claim I put the current active account number on the form, but I'm wondering if I should also make a separate claim for the other inactive account. Would the settlement I have received be just for the newer account number, or for the whole thing since I first became an MBNA customer? I didn't re-apply for PPI when the account switched over or anything, but I wonder if they started a new PPI policy or if the same one carried on?

Any advice is much appreciated.

I would imagine that they will have already linked the accounts. Check with them, but I would suspect you have probably been reimbursed for the whole amount for the entire credit card agreement already, regardless of the number of cards that they have issued to you over the years.

You've managed to receive £3500 in PPI refunds on a credit card and you think that this may just be relating to the last two years?

My fag packet calculation is that if it relates to just two years of charges then your average balance must have been around £20,000 ! Is that the case?

No, it wasn't 2 years ago, more like 7 or 8 (I can't remember exactly). Also bear in mind that the settlement I got includes a chunk of interest. The actual amount of PPI I had paid out was a lot less than £3.5k

I expect that the settlement probably does cover the entire period, and don't get me wrong I'm over the moon with the amount I got back, but I just have a nagging worry that I could have almost as much again that I haven't actually claimed for.
