House I am buying has a through the floor lift/elevator

Hello,
In the house I am intending to buy there is a through the floor elevator lift which goes from the kitchen up to the hall, by the bathroom.
Obviously I want to take this out and make good of the walls and floors that it affects.
I am considering selling it but have no idea of where to begin to look. The vendor has told me that the lift has been serviced every year, but it is very old and you cannot get parts for it anymore.
Have any of you been in this situation before and how best do I start with trying to see if I can get rid/sell it easily?
Thanks

contact the people who have been servicing it. they may be interested in buying it for refurbishment or for parts.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Is this a wheelchair lift?
If so, it might have some value to someone with access /disability housing requirements. You could try contacting your local authority or there are a number of web-services.
