I agree with what Fguk says, BT use the threat of engineer call out fees to try and put people off requesting an engineer. I have had several issues with them on my domestic line and have had engineers out several times and never been charged once as they always found the fault was on their end.
I have usually found the engineers who come out to be very helpful and find that they are quite critical of BT customer service and how faults are handled.
Another trick of BT is to close out tickets if they have not heard from you in a couple of weeks, so make sure you keep on pestering them and never assume they are working on the problem.
As you appear to have eliminated any possible causes at your end, I would take the plunge and demand an engineer come out and accept that if they can prove it is your equipment then you are willing to pay. Then even if they do prove it and you have to pay at least you will know what the problem is.0
