A few of you have mentioned business rates, would these need paying if there wad no business? Also is it possible to include the property within our boundary instead of it being separate?

Check on the Valuation Office Agency website to see if it has been assessed for non domestic rates. There does not have to be a business, just a building or land which is not used ancillary to a dwelling, nor is agricultural.

Currently it may be exempt from needing rates to be paid, as there is a temporary relief for low rated properties.

If you did merge it with your house, your Council Tax band may (and I stress may) increase.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
