Unfortunately if the other half didn't have his crisps he would probably divorce me :D

I've stopped buying cakes and now make my own but crisps and chocolate biscuit bars are the other halfs favourites. I could probably fool the kids but not him!

I think Sarahsaver's right though - you get out of the habit of crisps quite quickly. My idea is that none of us will have them for a few weeks and then they'll be a treat, probably a regular one, but not something that goes in packed lunches EVERY day like they were. I've found that my kids are a lot less fussy about their sandwiches and dinner without crisps and chocolate biscuits to fall back on.

First shop of the month for me and it did not go very well, I've spent £40 and don't seem to have a lot to show for it.

Our one downfall is crisps as everyone takes a pack with their packed lunches, the cheapest I have found is Aldi's 26 packs for £1.99, has anyone found any cheaper anywhere (apart from Asda Smartprice, we've tried those and they are really nasty)

Snap! I can't believe how little I got yesterday for £40. I thought I was being so careful too. It's a good thing I already had bulging cupboards and two freezers full of stuff too. There's no way I could do it if cleaning things and toiletries were included...in fact the cat food might have to have a seperate budget - my three moggies will only eat Whiskas foil packs!

I do know what you mean, the thing is that I don't work outside the house, his is the only wage coming in and he's already been very good about sticking to the budget we worked out.

He works very hard at a job he loathes to bring the money in, it would seem very unfair in my mind if I was to deprive him totally of the little treats he enjoys which only works out at 7p a day.

He does love flapjacks though, I'm going to start substituting his chocolate bar for homemade flapjacks, he will probably thank me for that one :D

I have got my slow cooker out(Wedding Present that has not been used) and I am going to give that a go as I see there is a post for some receipes.
Your mention of a post for some slow cooker recipes gave me a little chuckle here LadyMarmalade :) If THIS is the thread you mean make sure you give yourself a month or three to read all the posts...there are hundreds of them ;)

    - Perhaps I should try an own brand of nappy on little ‘un? (Although saying that, I can’t remember buying Huggies at full price or without a coupon!).

Omega, have you tried the Tesco's own brand nappies in the purple packs? They do the massive packs (effectively 2 packs in 1 with 50+ nappies in each pack) at 2 for £14. We've been using them for ages (for Ethan, not for us! :D ) - they are so much better than Pampers or Huggies in my opinion.

The one thing I do really like about them compared to Pampers or Huggies is that the tapes are really stretchy, so unlike Pampers where you are going up a size every time the little one puts on a pound, these ones fit for ages because of the tapes.

Hi everyone - well, unless I mislaid a load of receipts I actually came in under budget for March, so can theoretically put £8.50 into the pin money box. Unfortunately we overspent on othe stuff so I think the pin money will have to go in the slush fund instead. However, since becoming an MSer last year I've tracked my spending enough (thanks Martin for the budgeting tool!) to readjust our budget and start again for the new financial year. So, the target for April is: £130 on groceries & drink, £40 on household stuff (& I'll be analysing receipts to see how someone who uses vinegar, lemon juice & a washing ball can spend £40!), and £20 on nappies and my own personal nemesis, clothes/shoes for dd (even though I buy big-time bargains I still seem to spent more than I expect!). Wish me luck!

btw, glad to see I'm not alone in suffering from mother's memory, Lillibet - get used to it coz it only seems to get worse!
    £2 savers club - £62

    Relaunched grocery challenge:

March target: £150 on food, £50 on other stuff - still not doing very well at keeping track...:o
