Well I went to sainsburys tonight after work, a small one in city centre and found lots of things reduced to clear, so took advantage. For £6.19 I got big bag of doritos, 6 spring rolls, 500g lean mince, 2 packs pilau rice, salsa dip, a garlic tear and share and 4 lovely burgers. The best bit being the burgers that were reduced to 79p from £2.79 and I've just realised I wasn't charged for them at all! The doritos and salsa were used for tonights tea, snacky stuff but lovely, nachos, salsa and cheese along with the garlic tear and share to start. The spring rolls will be a starter on saturday, the burgers in the freezer for next week and the mince is in the slow cooker becoming spag bol as I type! The rice has also been frozen to use with a curry next week. So this should make my asda shop on sunday very cheap and mean I stay under our £120 budget for the month, ending 17th April, currently at £95.41Total Debt (27th Nov 08) £16,707.03 Now £5,102.72Debt Free Date [strike]Nov 2012[/strike] August 20110

I've just realised that I didn't do so badly today, I bought 50 items for the £49 I spent in Iceland and that included 5 bags of prawns, 3 family sized pies, 2 x 16 lincolnshire sausages and my Sara Lee double chocolate gateaux (my birthday cake).
I spent £11 on a new summer coat for my little girl (reduced from £22 in the Debenhams Sale). The £54 I spent on new clothes for the kids would have cost me £88 if I hadn't got most of it in the Peacocks sale and £22 for three pairs of childrens shoes is a pretty good price to pay.
So I have spent an extortionate amount of money today but it could have been a lot worse and at least they have clothes and shoes to last them through the summer and I should only have to buy little bits to stock up the fridge and larder for the next few weeks.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I have a spreadsheet for our spends now, and just keeping the receipts is enough to make us realize that we spend money too easily. Managed to get to the local market today and bought 4 kilos of fresh chicken breasts for £10. I've divided it up into 11 bags for the freezer. Instead of our usual grab bag of curry from ASDA for 6 quid or so we will be having home made for round 2 quid. Most fruit and veg were more expensive than ASDA. We did get a huge box of strawberries (about a kilo) cos the stall holder said they were English, can that be true?0

Could have been. As it is rather early even if underglass to be having english strawberries. So they will have been forced and will not taste as good. But then I do have about 10 strawberry plants in garden at the moment. Not sure I am going to get much off of them..
I find that the fruit and veg is so much better from a green grocers and fresher than a supermarket.
Yummy strawberries and vanilla ice cream.

£85.50 for the remainder of the month.
Looks like we shall only need to buy dairy, fruit, and veg over the next 10 days – (hurrah!) and even then I’ve got more than usual amounts from last week left. O/H will no doubt buy bottled water for work and fruit juice (helps that he’s now been persuaded to buy value oj). All-in-all, it appears to be trucking along nicely!0 -
is anyone else having problems getting onto fixtureferrets.co.uk ?
I have been trying for the last couple days and had no joy. I keep getting an error message!

read on another thread that there were problems with the site.
Can use www.madaboutbargains.co.uk for supermarket bargains etc.
Hope that helps0 -
Hi,
Gonna give this a go...need to really. My budget for the month usually is £240 for 2 adults, 4 children, 1 dog, 1 cat....but due to overspend on the credit card, hubby noy putting expenses in and not getting his tax rebate back yet...I now have £70 to last till the end of the month. Thats got to cover food, petrol (for me) and £10 a week for hubby's pocket money ( thats completely non negotiable!) I've written out meals with the meat I have in the freezer for the rest of the month. Bought a huge sack of spuds and hopefully will just need to top up on other essentials like tins of tomatoes, pasta and the like, oh and food for the animals.
Any other ideas would be helpful and advice on how to deal with a hubby who wants to live on about a £100 a week as well!!!0 -
