Problems with Powergen/MPAS

Options
Hi there!

I was wondering if anybody could be of assistance to me?

Four years in July this year I moved into my flat. I tried to set up a direct debit agreement with powergen for my gas & electric. The direct debit arrrangement was fine for the gas but they couldn't set up my electric direct debit as in their words "my address doesn't exist". They then told me to contact MPAS to find out who supplied the electricy at my address prior to me moving in.

MPAS also told me "Sorry but your address doesn't exist in our system" I asked them what I should do and they said " There is not a lot you can do".

Here we are four years later and Powergen have written to me stating that MPAS have been in touch with them saying there was an error on their part regarding my address. Strangely they now have a customer number relating to the electricity account.

I now think that the previous tenant experienced the same problems as myself and was never registered with an energy supply for her electricity.

Sorry this is a bit long winded but can anybody advice me where I go from here?

Thanks

You would have always had a customer reference number but it may have been under a builders / devolpers account.

Have you called powergen and asked them how much the bill is so far? Would be a good start.

Call up and register your details on the electricity account (if they haven't done so already). Get a bill sent out, make sure it starts from the correct date when you moved in. Try to negociate some money off as it is not your fault you haven't had a bill. If you can't afford to pay the remainder in what go, arrange a payment scheme. :)
