Hi, can anyone tell me if it is possible to claim for payment break insurance. I remember paying for it on a credit card a few years back and I know I never asked for it to be put on. Is it classed as a PPI? Has anyone else managed to claim it back? Thanks.

Hi Sharynw, I had payment break on my Monument cc that ia was not aware of. I put a claim in & it was rejected. Cant remember the exact reply now think it was something along the lines i had 30 days to cancel bla bla . I did not know i was even paying it as i didnt need it. As i was covered at work for everything. Anyway long story short they said i could take it to the FLA as 6 years ago when i cancelled this they were not regulated bla bla. I paid it for 5 years. I am gonna take it further just waiting for outcome of the rest of my claims . Hope if you go for it you have more luck . Let me know .:DHi, can anyone tell me if it is possible to claim for payment break insurance. I remember paying for it on a credit card a few years back and I know I never asked for it to be put on. So, how did it magically appear?I know I never asked for it to be put on.Is it classed as a PPI?
No. It is not in the PPI class. Not that it matters as it isnt the type of insurance that is relevant.
I am not being glib with the "magic" comment but there are a couple of flaws to the argument that it just appeared.
1 - most things dont just happen by magic. Most are forgotten. It may have been a quick sales phone call. Maybe you ticked the box but forgot. It could be a rogue member of staff.
2 - if it did just happen to appear and you paid it for a long period then why did you not complain then? Most people on seeing a payment on their statement that they did not authorise would be straight on the phone.
Point 2 is important if you have no evidence and are making an unprovable allegation. Credibility is often key in a complaint where there is no evidence. So, you need to think about why you didnt complain when you were paying it but now you want to complain a number of years after the event.
Without seeing what evidence they have, we cant say whether a complaint will succeed or not. However, the above indicates a couple of the issues you have if you decide to complain.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
