Expat Sterling Credit Card

in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm looking for any suggestions:
I have a Halifax sterling credit card that is automatically cleared every month via DD from my UK bank account. I have had the cc for 15 years and never paying a penny in interest. The credit limit was £18,000 until two years ago when Halifax reduced it to £5,000; presumably due to the Lehmans collapse? Until then I had lived in Europe (Germany & Belgium) for ten years, then I moved to Australia.
Recently I booked a trip back to UK and the flights alone for my family were £4,500. So if I booked hotels too I would have maxed out the limit. I requested an increase but Halifax refused. I did a credit check back in January and apart from not being on the UK electoral role I have a perfect credit score.
My question is does anyone know of a sterling credit card for expats that has a greater limit than £5,000 that can be opened from Australia? None of the banks here have a 'partner' system. NAB owns Yorkshire and Clydesdale but they are the most complained about banks in a recent survey.
My experience of Halifax cc is that they employ under-trained staff in Belfast and in order to achieve anything, if at all, takes a very long phone call to a supervisor; it's just luck of the draw who you are connected to.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried HSBC? As well as operating in both Australia and the UK, they also have an offshore/expat offering
And their HSBC Premier accounts (at least) allow you to get products in one country, based on your credit score in another..
(or citibank?)

Hi Sunil,
HSBC - Do not operate Sterling credit cards to Australian residents,
I recall going through the same exercise with citibank a few years ago and again, no joy.
Thanks for your reply.0
