Hello
I'm looking for some advice.
I'm currently in dispute with Santander in relation to A&L Premier account underfunding charges. The issue I have is not that I dispute the charges themselves (I was aware of them). When I was first charged them several years ago I wrote to A&L via their secure messaging facility to ask to be transferred to a current account without the charges. I received a response saying that they would transfer me to such an account However the transfer was never made and the charges kept coming
Santander now say that they have no record of these secure messages. I don't believe there is any sent items facility. Also I had to close the account to prevent any further charges arising so I can't go back and check on line.
Does anyone have any bright ideas? Has anyone else any proof that Santander do have copies of old messages so that I can suggest that they are conveniently lying about having records of the messages. I find it hard to believe they don't keep copies.
Thanks

Hi Adam,
Santander have the worst customer service in UK, a poll was published recently.
I bank with Cater Allen, aka Cater Moron, a Santander subsidiary too. I too had a similar problem but instead they informed me that due to the "escalating cost" of data storage they were unable to save old banking instructions, one year old! I disputed this - in fact I called their manager an outright liar as the cost of storage roughly halves every six months. They referred me to the ombudsman, knowing that the ombudsman only deals with breaches and not bs!
I have now discovered and old A&L account with £10 in it from 2004. I mailed A&L two weeks ago but haven't received anything back - typical Santander lack of response.
I am returning to the UK soon and will endeavour to find another expat bank account (difficult) and retrieve my £10 + interest.
Good luck, vote with your feet as that's exactly what I intend to do.0
