Just a few questions on redundancy

I am being made compulsory redundant due to site closure at the end of June 2012. I will walk away with just over £30k so plan to pay off loan, credit cards etc and put the rest away in ISAs premium bonds and the like. My question is will this payment be classed as income for 2012/13 for tax credit purposes?
Also what benefits will I be entitled to when I am officially made redundant?
I am hoping to only claim unemployment benefits for a max of 3 months as the plan is I am going to uni to study full time.
Appreciate any advice.

Chances are you will only be able to get JSA £30k+ puts you over the limit for any means tested benifits.
Check what is taxed and what is tax free, only the fist £30k compensation is tax free, any contractual payments like PILON holidays will be taxable.0
